GSATS 2026 – Innovate & Elevate
Thanks to Amazon Web Services (AWS), IGSA is excited to announce that this year’s two-day GSATS conference will be held on November 17-18 at the Amazon campus in Seattle Washington, adjacent to the famous Amazon Spheres.
Our theme for this year’s GSATS, Innovate & Elevate, represents the ever-increasing pace of advancements in our industry, as well as the growing need to level up our game. We look forward to discussing the wealth of new and upcoming technologies and how we can ensure that they are used safely and effectively in service of our patrons.
We are very honored to announce that Mr. Kevin Mullally, CEO of the International Association of Gaming Regulators, will be giving the conference’s opening Keynote Address.

COMMITTEE UPDATES
CYBER RESILIENCY
The Cyber Resiliency Committee last met on July 29. The group engaged in in-depth discussions about the current state of AI and security. They also advanced their current draft of their Best Practices document, and hope to release it by the end of the year. The committee’s next scheduled meeting date is TBD.
Cyber Resiliency Committee Bulletin
This is a new feature debuting in this month’s Newsletter. The Cyber Resiliency Committee will use this section to highlight noteworthy news related to cyber resiliency and other potentially impactful events.
This month they recommend the following topics:
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 / FIPS 140-3 which set security rules for cryptographic modules across four distinct qualitative security levels
- European Cyber Resiliency Act – This sets mandatory cybersecurity rules for hardware and software products sold in the EU. The Act requires secure-by-design standards, vulnerability reporting, and CE marking compliance. It is worth understanding the Act and determining what is applicable to other jurisdictions which may also be considering similar legislation.
- AI can defeat CAPTCHA – AI can now solve grid-style object recognition challenges at near 100%. Reliance on this tool may not yield the expected results.
- Unix 2038 clock overflow – Unix Epoch will experience an integer overflow during October 2038 which will affect Linux and macOS systems. Described as the Y2K of ‘38, it is worth understanding and determining how to mitigate its impact.
EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
The Emerging Technologies Committee met for a re-launch discussion on April 9. The chair of the committee is hard at work gathering companies and individuals to add to discussion list for the group. The committee’s next meeting date is TBD.
ETHICAL AI
The committee met on June 24 and has been discussing the next Best Practice and finalizing the FAQ companion document. The next meeting date is August 10.
GAMING DEVICE STANDARD (GDS)
Calling all former and interested GDS Committee participants! We are looking to restart this committee to work firstly on creating an updated Toolkit, and then to identify areas within the protocol that may need to be updated.
ONLINE SKILL GAMING
The new committee met on July 23. One of the key goals for the committee was to bring in new members who are involved in online skill gaming and towards that goal the meeting was open. Several new companies joined the meeting and discussed the current state of the industry. The next meeting will on August 12.
PAYMENTS
The Payments Committee is currently reviewing the final version of its document on Crypto policy and licensing. The next meeting is scheduled for September 9.
REGULATORY
The Regulatory Committee recently met on July 14. Regulators who wish to participate in this committee should send a request to be added to michelleo@igsa.org. This committee is open only to regulators and there are no membership requirements and no dues. The next meeting is scheduled for August 11.
SAFER GAMBLING
The Safer Gambling Committee members met on July 30 and discussed three options for player information and protection tools, including awareness sessions during play, player-controlled protection tools, and game mechanics and volatility information. The next meeting is TBD.
