News – Letter from the President
NAGRA
The 2026 North America Gaming Regulators Association wrapped up its annual conference last week. I had the privilege of representing IGSA on a panel discussing AI usage in gaming with regulators from New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. I was able to share with the audience the Best Practices created by our Ethical use of AI committee. The conference featured panels on areas of gaming including Cyber Resiliency and Security, Payments and Crytpo, Responsible Gaming, and the intersection of iGaming and online Skill Games. There were also several panels dealing with Illegal Gaming, Sports Integrity, and Predictive Markets. These are all areas of focus for our various committees, so it was very encouraging to see that the work that they are undertaking aligns with areas of focus for regulators in the industry. I continue to believe that there is room for the use of best practices, standards, and technology to help improve the areas of sports integrity and combat illegal gaming.
IGSA Annual Meeting & GSATS 2026 Update
IGSA will hold its annual meeting at G2E in Las Vegas again on September 29 at the Venetian. Please look forward to more details coming soon!
IGSA is still evaluating our options for holding a GSA Technical Summit this year. We are exploring potential locations and timeframes, and will announce the decision related to hosting GSATS in the coming weeks.
COMMITTEE UPDATES
CYBER RESILIENCY
The Cyber Resiliency Committee last met on May 7. The group discussed in detail the current challenges in security especially those stemming from Antropic related to Methos and its potential impact on industry. The group’s next meeting date is June 29.
EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
The Emerging Technologies Committee met for a re-launch discussion on April 9. The chair of the committee is hard at work gathering companies and individuals to add to discussion list for the group. The group’s next meeting date is TBD.
ETHICAL AI
The committee met on May 5 and continues to finish working on the Best Practices identified as needed during the creation of the FAQ document. The next meeting is scheduled for June 24.
GAMING DEVICE STANDARD (GDS)
Calling all former and interested GDS Committee participants! We are looking to restart this committee to work firstly on creating an updated Toolkit, and then to identify areas within the protocol that may need to be updated.
ONLINE SKILL GAMING
The new committee met on May 28 and reviewed the current charter, potential work items, and additional companies that may have a strong interest in the work of developing best practices. The next meeting is scheduled for June 11, and the new chair and vice-chairs will be announced then.
PAYMENTS
The Payments Committee has created two Working Groups, with one focusing on KYC 2.0 and the other working on Crypto Exchanges. The next meeting is scheduled for June 16.
REGULATORY
The Regulatory Committee recently met on May 12. Regulators who wish to participate in this committee should send a request to be added to michelleo@igsa.org. This committee is open only to regulators and there are no membership requirements and no dues. The next meeting is scheduled for June 9.
SAFER GAMBLING
The newly renamed and relaunched Safer Gambling Committee members met and reviewed the committee’s charter, discussed top priority work items, called for nominations for a Chair and Vice-chair and agreed to meet again on June 23.
